Aviation – People Movers

Our recent project on Rapid Transit World Review, structured on the EU RTD Programme includes a study on the installation base of “Elevated Public Transport” and the potential opportunities for Automated Guided Transit vehicles in expanding airports. For organisations wishing to gain further share in such markets we can assist in the areas of comparative assessments of the differing types of motion technologies used in such vehicles.

In this sector our CAL-PLAN concept of modelling the APM airport infrastructure in real time has now been successfully applied and ongoing to UK major airport groups. By simulating the network we are able to advise demand scenarios between Terminals or Remote Car Parks to the Main Terminals. On projects to-date we have applied a variety of simulation conditions to identify optimum route, station capacity and the resultant build costs and associated running cost implications based on specific user group behaviour patterns at the Airport.

Real Time Simulation Tools

For PRT applications we are able to model either Asynchronous or Synchronous control methods.

Asynchronous modelling uses CAD related guideway elements with a range of multi-berth station types and the capabilty of behavioural modelling of passenger load and walk profiles.

Synchronous modelling uses conceptual connectivity of the guideway based on a single multi-berth station but allows a wide range of prediction demands and scenarios for each of the stations on the network.
